Shamwari was a real highlight of my South African journey! The reserve offers a brilliant range of accommodation options to suit different travellers. I was absolutely thrilled with the wildlife viewing opportunities - seeing the "Big 5" in their natural habitat was truly special. A practical bonus that many visitors will appreciate is that this is a malaria-free area, so no need to worry about antimalarial medication.

I was amazed by the variety of activities available! You can enjoy horse riding along beautiful trails, seasonal whale watching (absolutely spectacular between June and December), marine safaris to spot seals and other sea life, and lovely wine experiences showcasing the region's excellent vineyards.
The food was exceptional - many ingredients come straight from their organic farm, creating fresh, flavourful meals that truly reflect the region's bounty.
NATURAL WONDERS
Nature enthusiasts will love the botanical tours highlighting Grootbos's incredible floral diversity. The fynbos ecosystem contains numerous plant species found nowhere else on earth, making the forest walks and guided hikes fascinating.
